SOCOPA is rooted in the community it serves. Our offices are in St Matthew’s in Leicester and many of our programmes serve the community there as well as attracting people from across the city. SOCOPA exists to meet the needs of Somalis, East Africans, and anyone building a home in Leicester. Our community faces many challenges, such as inequality, poverty, language barriers and isolation. SOCOPA works for the betterment of the community through a range of services including English classes, youth clubs, skills training and culture nights.
Originally we were established as a charity and then became a charitable incorporated organization (CIO) in 2013.
We are run by a Board of Trustees and led by the CEO Abdikayf Farah and 5 project staff. Our charitable registration number is 1152565.

This organisation is established provide and deliver for any charitable purpose for people from Somalia living in the UK and people living in Somalia (East Africa).
a) The advancement of education, by providing community education, homework clubs and out of schools education, community awareness raising, life essential training and ESOL classes.
b) The prevention or relief of poverty, people living in the UK and Somalia by providing practical support, services and facilities. We provide advice and assistance to families and their children to improve their living conditions.
c) The provision of facilities for recreation or leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving their conditions of life.
